Aquatic Marginals are pond plants grow in moist areas such as bogs to the perimeter of your pond. When we state the recommended depth, we refer to inches of water over the rim of the pot. Plants listed with 0 (zero) inches - moist soil prefer not to have their pot rims submerged however most pond plants are pretty adaptable. We have added a large number of marginal pond plants for your garden pond or lake. We propogate every plant that we carry.
When looking for pond plants, you need to take into consideration how much sunlight does your pond get? Most hardy marginals prefer at least 4 hours of sunlight. Morning sun being the best. There are a few that will hibernate (go dormant) when the weather turns hot, the marsh marigolds being one. Many people think they have died, when they make their colorful appearance the next spring.
If you get less than 4 hours a day, there are a good selection of pond plants that can thrive in lower light conditions in and around your garden pond Click Here to view shade loving pond plants. You can find that by clicking the Growing Zone link under the Help section of any page or by clicking here.
