Lotus are one of the most rewarding hardy pond plants in our opinion. The flowers are exquisite the seed pods are used for floral decorations and most tubers & seeds are edible. A very versital plant they will reward you with years and years of blooms if properly cared for.

As with all lilies & lotus, they do require generally at least 6 hours of sunlight to flower. A few varieties will flower with less light but 6 hours is the recommended minimum.

Sizes range from bowl, miniature, medium and large plants / blooms. Bowl and miniature are suited for all ponds, but are enjoyed best in container and small/medium ponds. They have small foliage and teacup size blooms. The medium and large varieties are suited better for medium/large ponds and have dinner plate size georgeous and very fragrant blooms. Lotus are really interesting, the first foliage will float on the waters surface, then they will send up leaves that stand above the water level. Blooming generally occurs in mid-summer and lasts until the weather cools and the plant goes dormant for the winter.

Hardy Lotus come in the following color ranges, White/Cream, Yellow, Pink and Changeable
Lotus have a bad reputation as being very stubborn when first started, if the growing tip on the tuber is damaged or allowed to dry out, it will generally die. However once they are growing, they are very easy to take care of. We dig our tubers when still dormant as soon as the ice can be penetrated in the growing beds, they are potted and allowed to grow out for a couple of months prior to being available. We ONLY sell started stock, we do not sell bare tubers due to the care needed to get them growing. Even we have tubers that fail to grow.

This year we will introduce a new way of shipping lotus that have been started, this will enable you to successfully establish your lotus plants without the headaches.
